Landscape
Brief Introduction
Landscape is a national featured program and in 2014 it was recognized as a pilot program for the reform of cultivating the multidisciplinary, application-oriented agricultural and forestry talents. It is in the category of Agronomy and its core courses include Landscape Dendrology, Landscape Floriculture, Landscape Design, Landscape Engineering, Plant Landscape Design etc. Landscape aims to cultivate application-oriented talents with broad professional knowledge of garden plant resources cultivation and protection, garden plant application, landscape design etc. who can fill positions in the planning and design of green spaces in natural resorts, forest parks, towns etc. and positions in landscape plant breeding, cultivation, construction, maintenance and management.
Characteristics
1. Landscape is a national featured program and a pilot program for the reform of cultivating the multidisciplinary, application-oriented agricultural and forestry talents.
2. It has a Heilongjiang Provincial Teaching Master and a Heilongjiang Provincial Teaching Team.
3. It is authorized to confer Bachelor, Master and Doctoral degrees.
4. It provides professional practice and innovation platforms, encourages students to participate in academic competitions and innovative projects, and admits students to the research team so as to have an access to high-level research projects.
Students’ Prospect
In the past 3 years, 25% of the undergraduates in Landscape applied for post-graduate degrees in the form of postgraduate recommendation, postgraduate application or overseas study. Each year, some students are admitted to national key universities or research institutes such as Peking University, Beijing Forestry University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the Chinese Academy of Forestry etc. In the recent years, the average employment rate has reached up to 93% and they are employed mainly by well-known listed companies, large or medium sized enterprises or institutions in China’s developed regions such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong provinces etc.

Landscape was established at the end of the 1950s. With many years of construction, it has developed into a specialty with great characteristics. It has emphases in the integration of classroom coursework and practice classes, the construction of teaching quality securing system with first-class teachers, teaching methods, teaching content, teaching management, teaching facilities, and the cultivation of students’ professional knowledge and practical abilities. After four years of studies in Landscape, students can master the professional knowledge in Ecology, art, landscape plants, landscape planning and design etc. and can fill the positions in landscape planning, design, construction, maintenance and management, green garden plant breeding in urban ecological construction, urban landscape design, landscaping, gardening enterprises etc..

Professor Yue Hua is a Heilongjiang Provincial Teaching Master, Chairperson of the Faculty Board of College of Architecture, Director of China Flower Association, and Executive Director of China Association of Flower Arrangement Art.

Landscape offers professional knowledge concerning garden plants, garden design, garden construction etc. accompanied by a variety of practical activities to broaden their horizons. For the sake of students’ future, the College of Landscape Architecture will hold various professional skills competitions and contests. Meanwhile, for the sake of students’ scientific research, it also encourages students to participate in innovative experiments.
